Volunteer Efforts/ Kreidersville Covered Bridge
Upkeep and Restoration
The upkeep of the Bridge has been supported through community efforts and many hours of volunteer work.Volunteering gives community members a chance to work together, and our visiting public an opportunity to see all the splendor that this historic bridge has to offer.
Youth have inspired others to strive to volunteer utilizing their skills to preserve not only the structure and grounds of the bridge but also the history of this historic site.

Local Youth get Involved
Volunteering at the Historical Bridge is a rewarding experience and a great way to meet people who share your interest in history as local youth have experienced.
In 1998 Boy Scout Troop 40 members volunteered and restored deteriorating boards, scraped paint, and repainted the bridge. Thanks Scouts!
Eagle Scouts Stephen Groller and Wasyl Mauser from Boyscout Troop 40 of Allen Twp, Pa have added to the beauty of the historic covered bridge via installing cobblestone pavers which beautify the entranceway of the bridge.*(additional info below)
Holly Mauser our youth representative at our meetings is involved in ongoing volunteering at the historic bridge.A series of actions have been performed by Holly: This spirited youth shows her pride by manning a Farmall tractor (mowing the fields) to ensure the landscape remains as beautiful as the historic bridge. Holly also volunteers by lending a hand with everything from assisting with laying cobblestone, to setting up tents, tables, and preparing food for Kreidersville Covered Bridge festivals. Holly enjoys counting and numbering the 500 or more plastic ducks for our duck race... in preparation for our festivals! A notable achievement:Along with Tom and Tyla Schlener, and Wasyl Mauser she has performed extensive cleanup at the bridge grounds following a storm that downed trees and flooded the grounds in the past. Her interests have inspired others to get involved with lending a hand with preservation and research at the historic site. Holly plans to continue being involved with efforts at the historic site.
*Wasyl Mauser and Stephen Grollers jobs consisted not only of actual construction work, but also of designing a plan, organizing donations of materials, and scheduling volunteer assistants for the project.Wasyl Mauser also ensured that proper products and equipment were used to assure that the olden days ambiance was preserved at the historic Kreidersville Covered Bridge. They also proudly donated numerous hours of their time constructing a versa lock wall on the grounds.
What they have accomplished is an inspiration to others!
Fellow Scouts assisted with the projects.
Community Businesses also lead to the successful restoration.
Thanks to local businesses that also assisted with donations of their time, machinery and supplies.
